With the release of DEVONthink To Go 4, we substantially increased the power and utility of the application. But we also revised and improved the built-in Help. It contains information about the app, from an introduction on the basic elements to specific features. You’ll find the Help in Settings > Help. DEVONthink users may also notice a familiar structure to it:

  • Getting Started: This introductory chapter shows a variety of use cases for DEVONthink To Go, the basics elements you’ll work with, a quick tour of the parts of the interface, things to consider when building a database, thoughts on external AI and its integration, and a few resources.
  • Interactions: This chapter covers controls for things you’ll commonly do in DEVONthink To Go, like searching, organizing, etc.
  • Documents: Here you’ll find information about the documents you can import or create in DEVONthink To Go, document linking methods, as well as how AI fits into things.
  • In & Out: This chapter explains various ways to get documents in and out of your databases.
  • Sync: This chapter explains how sync works and how to choose a sync method. You’ll also find individual sections for setting up new and existing sync locations.
  • Settings: This chapter covers each of the available settings. Check out the License settings to manage your subscription or register your device with a DEVONthink Pro or Server license.
  • FAQ & Troubleshooting: Here you’ll find a few commonly asked questions and notes about security, sync, sync troubleshooting, and more.
  • Appendix: The appendix delivers deeper information on very specific topics, like what certain property icons signify, options for more focused searching, Shortcuts actions, etc.
