It’s time to get ready for Santa Claus and there is so many “stuff” out there that people think we should buy. Personally I have no affection to consumption binge, but Christmas time is also a season where we have some more time to devote to the things we wanted to do all the rest of the year — including, maybe, updating our software library, organizing our workspace, and reading books. Here are five suggestions what you could put onto your wish list: … (mehr)
We’re just preparing beta 4 for our tireless beta testers with many minor changes including the new icon set. Time to direct your attention to some of the substancial changes we have made to DEVONthink 2.0. (mehr)
I already told you a number of times that we’re currently focused fully on getting version 2.0 ready for the public beta phase. So DEVONthink, DEVONthink, is all we’re thinking about. Need a proof? This is what accidently created itself (no kidding!) lately when I was making pancakes. I’m considering this a good omen. (mehr)
While our beta testers are dissecting the current beta 2, I’d like to share some more information about the upcoming new version. This week: The new file formats that you can work with in DEVONthink 2.0. (mehr)
When you are looking for specific information on a web page, say email addresses, images, movies, Office documents, or downloadable files, DEVONagent Pro's Objects Drawer comes in handy. Open any web page in DEVONagent, from a search or directly using File > New Browser, and expand the right-hand sidebar. In the opened sidebar choose the type of information you want to extract, e.g., images, linked binary files, etc. DEVONagent immediately updates the list of found objects for the chosen type. Right-click any object to open it in a separate window, copy its link, or archive it in DEVONthink.
I promised to keep you all updated on the progress we make with DEVONthink 2.0. Today I am proud to tell you that we have just seeded the very first beta of DEVONthink Pro Office 2.0 to the closed beta testers group. Some features are still missing, especially interface-wise, but it’s already stable enough and useable. And while we continue adding the planned functionality it’s now up to our great beta tester community to put it through its paces.
DEVONthink Pro Office 2.0 - what’s happening? Well, we hope to release very soon the first public beta but in the meantime here are a few prelims to whet the appetite!
This week: DEVONthink Pro Office 2.0 — built-in web server completely revamped. (mehr)
Another article this week that caught my attention: The New York Times writes about the “Too much news” phenomenon, which hits many people hard especially in these troubled times.
This explosion of information technology, when combined with an unusual confluence of dramatic — and ongoing — news events, has led many people to conclude that they have given their lives over to a news obsession. They find themselves taking breaks at work every 15 minutes to check the latest updates, and at the end of the day, taking laptops to bed. Then they pad through darkened homes in the predawn to check on the Asian markets. (mehr)
If you want to add additional information to a document in DEVONthink, that’s what the Comment field is made for. You can find it in the info panel that opens with Tools > Show Info or by pressing Command-Shift-I (we didn’t choose Command-I like in the Finder as this would collide with ‘make selected text italic’). Best of all: Comments are searchable.
