If you are a regular follower of my blog you may have noticed that my blogging frequency has decreased in the last few weeks. Neither have I moved to an Internet-free zone nor have I forgotten about my blog. — True is that I have taken over a programming project for our company that will reach beta phase in the not-too-far future. DEVONtechnologies is growing again: Last week Golden Retriever puppy Tippy moved in at Bill’s log cabin in Indiana, USA. Tippy has been happily adopted by Rottweiler dog mum Destry and is now keeping Bill and Destry busy. Welcome on the team, Tippy! (more)

To make our upgrade process easier I have just activated our new Upgrade Assistant. It asks you for all information you need to upgrade and leads you through the process. This is especially useful if you received your license as part of a promotion bundle and so you need to register your license first before you can request the upgrade details. All feedback is welcome.

Some people wonder and speculate abour why we have set the expiration date of the latest DEVONthink and DEVONnote public beta to end of December 2009 and not, as before, only two months ahead to end of September. The reason is NOT that we are planning to extend the public beta phase in general. It is simply to give more time to download the next beta or the final release without getting locked out of their database before they were able to use the automatic updater. (more)

If you are still using an older version of DEVONthink or DEVONnote, for example because your Mac is running Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger we have now, again, made the PDF documentation available for all 1.x versions of DEVONthink and DEVONnote.

Besides adding new features to and hunting down bugs in DEVONthink we also have something that is even more important to us: our families. And one of our families just got a bit larger.

Welcome, Karolina, daughter of our head developer Christian Grunenberg. A great start into your new, exciting life and all the best wishes to your family of (now) four from all of us here, there, and everywhere.

This weekend I watched for the first time ever an American Football game, the Ludwigsburg Bulldogs vs. Albershausen Crusaders (regional top league). My daughter joined their cheerleaders team last year and she had her very first public appearance this Saturday. It was a hell lot of fun: great music, the cheerleaders performances, good barbecue, cheap (of course American) beer, and me trying to follow what goes on on the field — reading the basic rules of the game in Wikipedia on my iPhone. I knew that all that technology would be useful for something eventually. (more)
