Today we have released public beta 8 of DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.0. We have polished the user interface, made the installation dead-simple, added new smart templates and revised the older ones, reinvented the columns view, and — finally — added smart tagging.
As promised lately, here’s the first update for DEVONthink and DEVONnote that addresses the compatibility issued with Mac OS X 10.6 ‘Snow Leopard’. Even more, this seventh public beta also adds tons of features some which had been promised for a while, namely PDF annotations, image editing, smart templates, ‘take note’ integration into the Sorter, and support for third-party meta data. Some people wonder and speculate abour why we have set the expiration date of the latest DEVONthink and DEVONnote public beta to end of December 2009 and not, as before, only two months ahead to end of September. The reason is NOT that we are planning to extend the public beta phase in general. It is simply to give more time to download the next beta or the final release without getting locked out of their database before they were able to use the automatic updater. (more)
Right in time we have released another round of public betas of DEVONthink and DEVONnote. New functions include simple PDF annotations (more to come soon!), an enhanced web interface for DEVONthink Pro Office, a rewritten Dashboard widget, a new Take Note hot key, and much, much more …
If you are still using an older version of DEVONthink or DEVONnote, for example because your Mac is running Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger we have now, again, made the PDF documentation available for all 1.x versions of DEVONthink and DEVONnote.
Just a quick note that we have just released DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.0 public beta 5 with new features, e.g. a new iPhone web application, many improvements (also under the hood), and bug fixes.
After two weeks without OCR, we have now finished our workarounds that circumvent the PDF bug in the ABBYY engine and just released public beta 3 of all editions of DEVONthink as well as of DEVONnote. (more)
Just in time we have released the second public beta of DEVONthink (and DEVONnote). This beta comes with many enhancements, e.g. simple PDF editing abilities (splitting files, merging files, copy/paste for PDF pages), a new RSS preferences panel, and a more responsive web interface that now also displays QuickLook previews if possible. In addition, DEVONthink Pro Office nearly also came with a brand new OCR engine but technical difficulties with embedding the engine properly forced us to delay this feature but we will deliver it as soon as we and ABBYY are able to find the problem.
