All our products come with a build-in documentation. It’s written in XML and compiled to HTML, PDF, and two ebook formats with a variety of tools. For DEVONthink To Go 2 we use the same workflow, just with another set of stylesheets that adopt the iOS look and make it work better in our own viewer. (more)

Out-of-the-box DEVONthink displays and searches many file formats including PDF or Office documents. For files it doesn’t understand it uses Quick Look and Spotlight to make their proprietary content usable. With these two free plugins you can add the .epub file format to your system. As soon as you’ve installed the plugins, DEVONthink shows at least book covers, finds books by their content, and converts them to plain text. (more)

Some might not know but the documentation that is built into DEVONthink, DEVONnote, and DEVONagent Pro was always also available as PDF. But after the relaunch of our website they looked strangely old-fashioned I have to admit. In the last few weeks I reworked the layout and adapted it to our new design. And, as I was at it, I dropped the landscape-oriented PDF for reading on the screen in favor of an ebook. (more)

Just before Christmas Joe Kissell, the author of Take Control of Getting Started with DEVONthink 2, Take Control of Your Paperless Office and many other great books, called and told me that he would be driving from his home in Paris, France, to Nürnberg, Germany. He managed to make a pit-stop and we managed to have lunch at the Rossknecht, a traditional German-cuisine restaurant here in Bietigheim-Bissingen, right in the middle of the busy Sternlesmarkt Christmas market.
