DEVONthink To Go 2.1.1 just passed Apple’s review with important bug fixes. — For the new document provider extension feature to work, DEVONthink To Go 2.1 had to move the the database files to a new location shared between application and its extensions. On some devices this failed and resulted in an error message and an apparently empty database. Version 2.1.1 fixes this issue and makes the database accessible again. It lets you open, edit, and save documents stored in your databases from other apps. Apple Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, and many more support the document provider mechanism right away. DEVONthink 2.9.9 adds an option for importing notes and attachments from Apple Notes. It honors the folder structure in Apple Notes and uses formatted notes to preserve formatting in a future-proof format. (more)
DEVONthink To Go 2.0.7 has passed Apple’s review just in time for the Christmas break. The new version adds support for 3D Touch and page links for PDFs. Version 2.0.7 also presents the results of an in-PDF search nicer and handles global searches for words containing non-alphanumeric characters better. Audio continues to play when you switch to another app. Finally, the app icon badge now shows only the number of unread items in the global inbox. (more)
Markdown is a brilliant way to unobstrusively add basic formatting to plain text files so that the result is readable to both humans and machines. DEVONthink 2.9.8 revamps its Media preferences and adds a new option that lets you choose how you want to open Markdown files, in “pure” editing mode or as graphically pleasing HTML. (more)
DEVONthink To Go 2.0.6 is waiting for Apple’s App Store review with improvements and many important bug fixes. This maintenance release saves changes to documents every 60 seconds. It also saves them every time you leave the app, e.g., for an incoming call. (more)
macOS Sierra 10.12.2 will soon be knocking at the door. DEVONthink 2.9.7, which we have released today, addresses further PDF issues related to Sierra (but does not fix them all; they’re just too many). (more)
DEVONthink 2.9.6, which we have just released, brings another bunch of workarounds for issues related to macOS Sierra’s broken PDF engine and scanner support. Both DEVONthink and DEVONnote also add new conditions to smart groups and honor metadata provided by ELO Office. The sharing extension for DEVONthink supports images, e.g., from web browsers, and uses less energy. (more)
Two weeks ago we have updated DEVONthink for macOS Sierra and DEVONthink To Go for iOS 10; this week it’s DEVONagent’s turn with a maintenance update.
Version 3.9.5 of all editions of DEVONagent received fixes for minor issues with Apple’s latest desktop operating system. In addition they now support the privacy-minded search engine Qwant and search Google Scholar better. As always we’re thrown a lot more into the basket, from more accurate ad filtering to updated scanner plugins and better interoperability with other applications. (more)
