DEVONthink To Go does not have OCR(Optical Character Recognition)capabilities built-in. However, if you have an iOS device capable of running in split view mode (as of this writing: iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 4) and an iOS OCR application, you may* be able to do OCR now. (more)
Today we’ve released a bug-fix release for DEVONthink Pro Office. Version 2.9.14 fixes a random issue with the text recognition (OCR) as well as issues related to thumbnailing PDFs, exporting items, and synchronizing databases with indexed items. In addition it fixes an issue where the metadata entry panel didn’t close on computers with a Touch Bar. (more)
We have told the great people at Readdle that our mobile users love the combination of their Scanner Pro app and DEVONthink to Go. Scanner Pro lets you use your iPhone’s or iPad’s camera for quickly scanning paper documents wherever you are. Problems regarding the compatibility with macOS Sierra have been found. Please do not use ScanSnap applications on macOS Sierra. Also, before upgrading your OS to macOS Sierra, please be sure to make a backup copy of the PDF files created by using ScanSnap applications. With DEVONthink 2.4 we have introduced our new scanner/camera import window, and just yesterday we have released an update that makes scanning with Image Capture compliant flatbed scanners or all-in-one devices a lot more comfortable. Today we have published two new tutorials that guide you through the new scanner/camera import window (all editions of DEVONthink) and through setting up a Fujitsu ScanSnap document scanner for use with DEVONthink Pro Office. DEVONthink’s new scanning function unified the various scanning options of previous versions and made paper capture available also for users of the Personal and Pro editions. But users are still missing some of the more advanced options, for example convenient capturing of documents with multiple pages. DEVONthink 2.4.2, which we have released today, supports the option Combine Into Single Document whenever you scan as PDF or TIFF. Just name the document and start scanning; DEVONthink creates a new document for you that you just have to send to your database when you’re done with all pages. (more)
